Crowder College in Neosho has reported its highest enrollment totals since 2019, with significant increases across its campuses for the Fall 2026 semester. The college announced a total of 4,424 students taking 40,995 credit hours, representing an increase of 2.01 percent in headcount enrollment and 3.02 percent in credit hours compared to Fall 2025 figures. This growth also extended to new students, with first-time enrollment increasing by 5 percent over the previous fall semester.
Several academic programs contributed to the overall growth, particularly in areas aligned with regional workforce needs. Allied Health programs experienced the largest increase, with student enrollment rising by 18.6 percent. Students declaring nursing majors also saw a notable increase of 7.61 percent. Technical education programs, excluding health sciences, grew by 2.8 percent.
The Fall 2026 semester also marked the first full fall term operating from the new Joplin Advanced Training and Workforce Center (ATWC) location. Workforce-aligned programs offered at the Joplin ATWC experienced an 8.3 percent increase in student headcount during this period. The Joplin ATWC relocated last spring to a newly remodeled and larger facility, specifically designed to provide specialized career programs for area residents.
Dr. Chett Daniel, President of Crowder College, commented on the enrollment trends, stating that they "suggest overall value and that relevant programs of study" are influencing student enrollment choices. He added that Crowder's faculty and staff continue to innovate, finding more ways to offer flexible course offerings and student services across its multiple locations. This, Dr. Daniel noted, creates more pathways for students to enroll in and complete programs that lead to high-demand workforce options within the southwest Missouri region.
Crowder College currently offers more than 90 degree and certificate programs, designed to create clear pathways into the workforce or provide transfer opportunities for students wishing to continue their educational pursuits at a four-year institution. The college serves the Four States area through six distinct locations spread across southwest Missouri. In addition to its main campus in Neosho, Crowder operates facilities in Cassville, the Joplin Advanced Training & Workforce Center, McDonald County, Nevada, and Webb City. The college also provides a variety of online classes, enhancing accessibility for students. Crowder College does not charge out-of-state tuition, further broadening its appeal to students in the surrounding region.
The main campus in Neosho provides additional amenities for students, including on-campus housing options and competitive NJCAA Division I sports programs. The strategic expansion and focus on career-ready programs across its locations, particularly with the new Joplin ATWC, underscore Crowder College’s role in regional education and workforce development. The reported enrollment figures reflect the institution’s continued efforts to meet the evolving needs of students and industries in Joplin, Webb City, Carthage, Carl Junction, Neosho, and the broader southwest Missouri area.
